Bile-duct stones are usually cleared endoscopically by ERCP. The gallbladder is then removed to prevent further stones. Complex cases may need surgical bile-duct exploration.
A bile-duct injury is damage to the bile duct, sometimes a complication of earlier gallbladder surgery. It needs specialist HPB assessment and may require surgical repair or reconstruction to restore bile flow and protect the liver.
